Sigma Alpha Iota was founded in 1903 by seven music students at the University School of Music, Ann Arbor, Michigan.​ Our mission is to encourage, nurture and support the art of music.

Our Chapter
On January 23rd, 1940, graduating collegiate members of the Sigma Chi chapter at the University of Miami installed the Miami Alumnae Chapter. In 1947 the chapter changed its name to the Miami Alumnae & Patroness Chapter to recognize is Patroness members. Since being chartered, the chapter has received local and national recognition such as :
