AffiliationFAQs
Whether you are a recent SAI graduate or have taken some time away from the fraternity, or are new to the Miami area, you are welcome here.
How is alumnae life?
If you are new to affiliating with an alumnae chapter, you may wonder how the experience will compare to your collegiate chapter. SAI Alumnae chapters are known to be less business oriented and flexible. Alumnae sisters cultivate relationships with one another that encourage our mutual growth and development at each stage of life. We typically meet once a month, whether it be for business or social event. None of the events are mandatory, though we encourage members to attend as many as they can!
Several of our members are part of community ensembles such as the Civic Chorale of Greater Miami, FIUsion, and the South Florida Pride Wind Ensemble. Others are music teachers and performers, and others still are not working in music at all.

What does 'affiliation' mean?
Becoming affiliated with a local alumnae chapter means that you are active with that chapter. You appear on the members roster, pay local dues (in addition to national dues), and participate in meetings and events to the best of your ability.
Who can affiliate?
Currently unaffiliated alumnae, including recent graduates of collegiate chapters, may affiliate as alumnae members once they current with National Alumnae Association dues.
Patronesses may be affiliated once they receive training by an alumnae chapter (ourselves included!).
How do I affiliate?
Make sure you are current with your National Alumnae Association dues (reach out to NH if you need that information). Then, reach out to our Vice President, Membership at SAI.MIA.alumVPM@gmail.com.
Do I have to affiliate to attend events?
Our chapter's social events and big activities are open to all members of Sigma Alpha Iota living in the South Florida area. Being affiliated means getting invited to all events and activities and being able to help shape our calendar of events for the year.
